Same. Except I “silent quit” a bit too hard and got let go. I could’ve easily bounced back but I just didn’t have the desire. My job had turned from developing to cramming AI into our product in ways that didn’t make sense, then endless tickets and discussions about how to do more AI to correct issues with the previous iteration.
I dunno. Got any good ideas? I like software development but don’t have a lot of killer ideas for making money. Honestly I’d love to open a repair cafe, just not sure how I’d make money with that. I have some app ideas but they don’t get me jumping out of bed in the morning.
Not totally sure either. I do have an app idea I think might be promising (and I would legit pay to use myself if it existed) that I've been getting started in my off time, but I certainly don't have the runway to fund if I quit/lost my job. Other than that, probably back to my college job dealing cards at the casino for the short term.
On a small team right now, under 10 people. I'm fighting A boomer who pastes everything into Copilot including our conversations, a couple junior devs who graduated college with GPT degrees, and another long time employee who cranks out so much slop just to meet sprint quotas, I'm losing my mind. And guess who has to clean all of it up? I had to rip out over 10k lines of shit AI slop code just this past week.

Feeling this so hard. I've been a developer for over 20 years and this crap is so depressing that I'm looking at a career pivot.

What are you thinking about pivoting to from software development?

So far I've thought about product management, still in tech. That way my 20 years won't be a total waste and I won't be forced to vibe code AI slop.

All results of using AI are user error
Because it's an error to use AI.
I hate my company, so im more than happy to have AI slop on everything. Its my little (and ineffective) way of sticking it to big corp
The fact your boss isn't paying YOU to be absolutely right IS THE ENTIRE PROBLEM
