In a stunning turn of events, a demographic that traditionally goes 90/10 for Democrats will continue to do so during a Dem wave-year.

The findings suggest that many Black voters appear to be sticking with Talarico even as an overwhelming majority — 77% of recent Black voters — said they believe the Democratic Party in Texas takes Black voters “for granted.” Eight in 10 also said they believed Crockett’s race influenced the decision by non-Black primary voters to support Talarico.

They're right on both counts. But black Texas Dems have been told to bend over and eat shit since the Johnson Era. And by god, that's not going to change now that we've got a Cheeto In The White House.

Would be nice if Talarico can do the impossible and squeeze out a W in the Lone Star State, then prove all the skeptics wrong by showing up in the Senate championing a big new slate of Civil Rights reforms. But you have to win first, before you can seriously talk about what you're going to do with your razor-thin Senate majority.

Besides, any critique of Talarico really pales beside Ken Paxton and his crusade to make it illegal for black people to fucking exist in this state. One of them is a corn-fed white boy from the hill country who makes liberal-sounding noises. And the other might as well be campaigning next to a burning cross.
