Americans Are Turning on Trump. The president’s big gains with Black, Hispanic, and young voters in 2024 suggested a major shift. Less than two years later, he has lost those new supporters.
These voting demographics are going to become increasingly volatile, probably for the rest of our lives, until you start to see sweeps like the mid 20th century again, but for the opposite reasons ie; voters are so pissed at the party in power that they abandon "the establishment" en mass and vote for the opposition party.
Unless democracy is truly subverted we might get a decade or 3 of one party Rule, Russia or Hungary style.
Or if something like 9 11 happens and we have an actually charismatic leader who can rally the country.
Would need to be a bigger impact though, we are numb after covid.
People are deciding they have nothing to lose. They might as well change something. They are wrong, but they can't see the connection between their vote and losing their Healthcare 14 months later.
I wholeheartedly support a shift in our representatives such that they actually represent our interests instead of big corporations' and billionaires' interests, but those kind of changes come from the bottom up, not the top down, and even if that weren't the case, even an imperfect democratic president would have been better than Trump.
While I could believe you when you imply that Trump got voted in by voters lashing out, that's hardly a good way to repair a failing democracy. How many deaths can we lay at this administration's feet, just this term? I hope these voters are aware that their vote for Trump made that happen, when it comes time for votes in the future.

Biden was a terrible cannidate, and Harris was a bad choice as successor. That's why he won
Democrats haven't fielded a good candidate since Obama.
Honestly I liked Biden but I wish that he did more and gotten more done

Doomerism: These disphits should have never supported him in the first place.
Hoperism: Time’s arrow marches ever forward and here’s hoping this lesson stick with Americans and brings about meaningful change.

Almost like a huge chunk of voters just want some kind, any kind of change.
What a lot of people seem to always forget is that changing things for the worse is still a change.

Thats a large part of what lead to Trump.
If by that you mean the establishment's dogged refusal to deliver what voters want and insistence that everything's fine, I agree.

You'd think Dems would maybe pick up on such a winning strategy
