It's August 3 again, the old subreddit's cake day, and it's time to look back at our top posts of the past year. Hooray! Like most of our dear Lemmy/PieFed/Mbin conglomeration, we didn't grow very much this year, but the content has gotten so much better! I found out everyone really likes when I post GIFs from videos, and if nothing else, I want to give the people what they want. There's only one anime art in the top ten! The floaty feeling comes across so much better when it's in motion.
Unfortunately, Mbin's code base is cursed and our instance admin was forced to require a login to see posts on fedia.io . We have almost 1,000 posts now, and on most instances, the image is broken because it's hosted on fedia.io . I realize PieFed is just the better way to browse Floating Is Fun in several ways. I should look into the process of migrating Floating Is Fun from Mbin to PieFed, if that's even practical. Three years ago, when I migrated from Reddit to Kbin, there weren't any tools for that, and my mass reposting caused problems of its own. I am grateful for each and every one of you airheads who stuck around this long, and I don't want to leave any of you behind.
I really like the format ![email protected] uses in their top posts posts, so I stole it again. The image link format seems to consistently work now, so all images have their alt text intact. I didn't include last year's recap but its (π43 π0) record would make it tied for 5th place if I did.
Without further ado, here are your top ten posts between August 3, 2025 and August 3, 2026.
1. πΌοΈ The Weightless Machine by Colin Furze #illusion (π90 π2)
2. πΌοΈ Rotating Loop of Chain Holds Its Shape by Don Pettit and Steve Mould #microgravity (π79 π0)
3. πΌοΈ Hippo Break by Moyo the hippo from Busch Gardens Tampa Bay #underwater (π56 π0)
