Cringe is one of those words used to put down people who are happy just doing their own thing

I'd say the programme curb your enthusiasm is pretty cringe.

I think the term applies in the same way to both. Larry David is content doing his Larry David thing. I find it uncomfortable more often than not, but different strokes for different folks, right?

Cringe is just the presentation of the mundane as exceptional and saying that observation is mean is just a way to cling to it for a little longer.

I did not think of it in those terms but you are right cringe and word chewing represent an ultra-extrapolation of Dasein into the absurd. Incidentally my grandmother met Heidegger on the kneipe stairs in Freiburg, that is not a euphemism. At least I hope its not.

remember kids, calling things cringe is not a replacement for a personality. have whimsy in your life.

Ive always thought honesty or authenticity as being kinda related to cringe. Like somone who has no cringe is kinda a non person. Bit of a half formed idea but i think i am onto somthing...
