FSU: Animal rights campaigner visited by police officers and told to accept a police record, attend an “online thinking” course, or face arrest following comments about the incineration of beagles

"Animal rights campaigner, Anneka Svenska, was visited at home by two police officers and told to accept a police record, attend an “online thinking” course, or face arrest following comments she made on social media about the incineration of beagles at a company that breeds the dogs for use in medical research.

The police alleged that she had committed a crime under the Online Safety Act. "

One, don't link to the nazi CSAM website, if you must use a nitter instance link xcanel.com. Two, the 'Free Speech Union' is a far-right funded organisation using free speech as a front. You can tell because they haven't said anything about Amnesty International being cowered by anti-trans groups, in fact the they only seem to care about defending torture ('conversion therapy') of trans people.

Unfortunately this was the best text based source I could find reporting this when I posted it. I only became aware of it because of an animal rights youtuber I follow. If you have a better source feel free to share it.

Anneka refused to accept this “community resolution disposal”, which would have remained on her police record, and, after she engaged a lawyer, the case has now been dropped.

I really don’t like the practice of ‘let’s bully someone beyond the bounds of the law, and only back off if they call our bluff and get a lawyer involved’. They’re more or less relying on the fact most people don’t know their rights and are loathe to involve solicitors even when engaging one is completely called for.

Very sus.

One weird turn of phrase she uses is "factual information that I believed to be true". It sounds like she used her considerable clout to make a false claim about someone and is outraged that there are repercussions.

The fact that only GB News has picked it up speaks volumes.

I suspect the wording is because the OSA only criminalises spreading information that you know to be false.

The activities of MBR Acres are pretty well documented.
