4/5 of the cantaloupe I saw growing essentially melted here in Tennessee as well. My heirloom tomatoes grew hollow and stopped at about a golf ball. The cherry tomatoes are doing fine though. Cucumbers did great and then got fried in the heat. It's been a mess this year.

I'm in the southern hemisphere atm. Not looking forward to summer. Due to the big temperature shifts (-8 in winter, 40 in summer) I pull out and replant parts of the garden seasonally. It's difficult to try predict what will be good summer produce with El Niño kicking as extremely as it has.

Nothing more depressing that suffering tomatoes. And I usually have just enough time to get a good chilli harvest, so making sauces and stuff on the tail of summer is an annual highlight. But jeeez are they gonna need attention.

When I was growing up in the 80s in Tampa Bay, it never got more than 93. I'm flying home next week from Seattle to visit my fam. Not looking forward to it.

I'm growing my first melon this year, but scorching is a little less of a concern for me since we rarely break 90. Our growing season starts much later than yours, though, so I only have the littlest nubbin on my melon at this point.
