What’s happening with Remote Play lately is good and nice but without headless/virtual display option on the server side, it doesn’t make much sense.

On both Linux and Windows, you can’t capture full range HDR without your physical display also supports it. 99% of the gaming monitors only goes up to 400 nits, whereas the Deck offers 1000 nits and, if you use the Deck as the middleman, TVs can go up to 2000.

That being said, there are many Sunshine forks that goes around those (and many more) limitations by spawning a full fledged virtual display, and that’s the way it is.

Why is this not yet in main? It always annoyed me that streaming renders on the actual display.

Is there another Sunshine fork? I’m using the delisted latest version of Apollo, but it’s been dead for a long time now

Would the somewhat recent support for SudoVDA virtual displays on Windows not address the headless issue? I've been using it and it allows for HDR without my main display necessarily supporting it, for example.
