Just saw my pepper plant has put out its first blooms! ☺️☺️☺️
I have no idea what kind of pepper plant it is, my neighbor gifted it to me after I helped her take out her recycling and she said she can't remember what kind it was lol
I'm very excited to have another shot at successful fruiting. Last year my cherry tomato got blown off the ledge taking with it the single fruiting blossom and never fully recovered, and my strawberries all got eaten by bugs and then after keeping it alive through winter I accidentally gave it transplant shock and then overwatered back to back (it rained for like 3 days so I couldn't get it to dry out 🥹)
I've had to be hypervigilant of the wind, Including getting soaked just now moving my plants off the ledge as a severe thunderstorm rolled through (our 8 billionth one the past week or two 😅). I'm on the third floor and close to an airport so we've got decent elevation and not much around to break the wind lol

You're actually correct, I realized I still had the nursery pot with its little tag. When I first got it I couldn't find the plant label on the tag (I didn't look very hard)
Pinch them off otherwise they will start setting peppers too soon and stunt your plant. The first set of blooms should always be pinched it’s true for every type of pepper. If it starts putting energy into fruiting this early in its development your plant will never recover and you will have a very small and short lived harvest. It sucks but trust me, pinch them off and wait for the plant to mature more before you allow fruit to set. Personally I pinch off the first 3-4 rounds of buds and I get A LOT of peppers every year.
Think of these like a teen pregnancy, sure it’ll make a baby but it’s better if mom is more mature
Took a some pics of us together for size reference :) I'd love for her to be bigger, but I don't wanna wait longer and not have long enough in the season for the peppers to mature, and honestly I'm a little worried she may already be big enough to catch a lot of wind and blow off the ledge 😅
I appreciate the advice though! My friend taught me about plucking the flower buds off when she gifted me my strawberry so I've been trying to do that! Hopefully I've done an okay job this year and she can still make an okay number of peppers :)

I've pinched off a ton of buds already to get the plant to a size I feel decent about, I'm ready to let it start fruiting now. I considered letting it go longer but I'm worried about not having long enough for them to mature, and honestly I probably don't have a good place to put a normal 100% full maturity pepper plant while keeping it in the sun and safe from the wind. Nor do I have a big enough planter (I think I've heard people use like 5 gal buckets? Thats way bigger than I have a good place to put, I don't actually have my own balcony at my complex so its shared space on a ledge in the breezeway. I'm not technically supposed to have belongings there and a 5 gal bucket up on the ledge visible from the parking lot would be kind of a lot lol)
I am new to growing stuff so I have no idea if I'm at the point of blooms late, or early relative to what you'd want lol
