Moving from Reddit. This website is clunky, but it's workable.
Agreed, but then again, it's still a work in progress—and barely ready (if at all) for the impending flood of new users starting tomorrow when the blackout starts—so I'm willing to give it a huge amount of slack.
However, coming from
old.reddit.com, the look and feel of this site is more akin to how I think the redesign should have been, a cleaner upgrade to modern design sensibilities, but without the unnecessary stuff.Being of an old Reddit user myself, I think this is fine. It just needs more features injected in and capacity to handle an influx of users.
Absolutely agree.
For one, I hope that the instances are beefed up enough to withstand the influx of users. Secondly, I hope that the devs work on features to make Lemmy as good as, if not way better, than Reddit would ever be.
This is going to take some time getting used to…
For iOS users there’s a beta app for Lemmy, called mlem. You can install it via Test Flight. Unfortunately, there are no moderating functions so mods are stuck using the web app. 😬

Ah, alam ko naman yung basic moves, lol! Pero nung tinignan ko yung post mo dun, na-nosebleed ako, parang ang intimidating even though aware naman ako sa notation na gamit dun. (Algebraic notation yun, tama ba?)
And yes, I think that digital book might be helpful for me if I were to dive in deeper. No promises though.
We're all nerds here (for now, I assume), so no worries.
And I was just pulling the words ‘algebraic notation’ up from half-remembered shit I've absorbed, so I might be mistaken. I did look it up on wikipedia upon reading your reply though, so at least sure na akong may ganun nga (at hindi ako nauulyanin). But yeah, I guess that just reveals how little I know.
Thank you too for clearing up the misconceptions about chess. I know that math doesn't help with chess, nor IQ. What is helpful, I think, is the ability to recognize patterns, and to (quickly) choose which strategies are most helpful in the current situation.
I'll start small muna siguro, play against a computer AI every now and then, while reading up and building up the knowledge to recognize stuff once I play against humans.

Parang ang laking problema ata yan sa competitive chess. I remember hearing about the buttplug cheating controversy and laughing about it before reading about it and then almost immediately overthinking the hell about it—like detecting morse code from a buttplug, what about data bandwidth of the ass nerves? how about the lag induced by the decoding step? how about sending data from the user through the buttplug to the supposed accomplice? does one have to do kegels to train for it? All those questions, and more.
Sorry if that previous paragraph is disrespectful about competitive chess. At any rate, I came to the conclusion that there are better ways to cheat at competitive chess than through a buttplug.

My panganay will be 1 year old next month and ang aga nyang lumagpas ng puppy stage! Mas madalas nya na gusto ng “me time” tapos di na sya gaanong tumatabi samin sa pagtulog. My heart is not yet ready pero I am quite proud how good of a kuya he is sa new puppy namin. Hahaha. Haaay, dogs are angels. 🤍
