My father knows who Michael Jackson is, but I doubt he could identify Jackson.

Yes. There are plenty of people in the world who are cut off from mainstream media, too young or may not even have access to electricity. You could go to any village in any underdeveloped country and there's a good chance you'll find people who fit your description.
