"Weck" is a regional German term for bread roll, and thanks to the power of German compound words, if you precede it with any other word, it will become the term for a bread roll with that other thing as topping. Like "Fischweck" being a bread roll with fish, "Käseweck" being one with cheese, so you could (provided you have a strong stomach) just as well make a Merzweck. Of course, this would taste even better with the appropriate kind of butter. But because Merz has ordered us all a healthy dose of austerity, it is just some generic kind of fat. A special kind for making Merz bread rolls, though, Merzweck-Fett.
