I’m sort of off and on playing through RE2. RE4 is probably the one I’m least interested in of them all. Am I misjudging it?

I hail from the 90s, the days of Parasite Eve, Silent Hill 1, and the early RE's. Short answer: yes.

Slightly longer: RE4 is the only RE I've played and beat multiple times, on multiple platforms. All the others? One and done, no reason to playthrough again. But RE4 also gives you Mercenaries mode, which is its own separate arcadey game within the game. That, as well as them keeping the RE vibe despite there being more action, is what makes it THE best RE, IMO. Memorable moments, cheesy dialogue, RE common tropes, it's all there.

I'd say give it a shot. RE5 tried to hit the same stride, and failed miserably.
