have you checked if you have any insane in your membrane?

I hear it's crazy insane, got no brain.

Do you need something between the home and the concrete to prevent water/dirt or anything else from potentially causing problems?

So it's all sitting on a layer of small rock so water would drain well. And I'll be making a slope in the concrete so the water should get right at the end of the pad where I'll be making a franch drain / rock walkway to make sure nothing pools too much. Additionally my roof is overhanging quite a bit so the ~40cm are most of the time dry when it rains anyway unless rains gets sideways twice every 5 years or so.

As much as the concrete I will pour… but the sides where water can seep through will have a permeable layer. Between the walls and the pad. And the layer below the membrane sure is permeable.

Concrete can dry out too fast before it sets or cures if you don’t. It prevents the subgrade from leeching the moisture out.

Could be other reasons at play here though.

yup. Need to get the outdoors more practical as our weather is now all hot & dry...

Are you sure you want a giant heat sink there instead of a garden? Concrete stores heat and emits it later... instead trees are helping to cool it

Yeah I was just thinking without some kind of cover/roof this is going to get so hot in the summer sun. But, maybe that's just my obsession with NoLawns

Well, we'll keep all the surounding untouched. The concrete is just the surface to accomodate outdoor kitchen, a table & hopefully, a jacuzzi or, for the times being, the kids "pool". On top of the concret I'll run some creeper vines in the to-be wooden patio. Rest assured that all the trees and surrounding pastures won't move an inch. Before being concrete this was largelly gravel in any case. Heat behaviour has been a concern from the start but the balance tipped towards this outcome.
