old.reddit.com had some hiccups this month where it'd try and force me to not use it, but then after a few hours it'd show old.reddit.com again.
But Finally, today, it seems to have stuck. Old.reddit.com seems to be dead (unless you're using a VPN set to USA?).
It's weird how it almost coincides with Chromium putting Manifest v2 in the grave, which is by the end of August 2026..

I clicked on the first one (safereddit.com) and it's not old.reddit.

Yeah, its just reddit front ends to access reddit for those who prefer to lurk without an account, but don't like new reddit UI.

Its what I've been using since old.reddit without logins stopped working and I've used the UI setting with compact and wide. You subscribe and filter our subs too and save the settings by copying some lines.

And redlib is easily self hosted if you wanna go that route, too. I have one running in a container on unraid. Super simple.

Well, the fun thing is that if their plan of forced mass ID linking to the Internet accounts worked flawlessly, most of the real adults and kids would have been confirmed and marked. Thus making it easier for them to do their "job".

There is no single answer, but I guess that some people just lack critical thinking and self awareness.

I was using the RDX app to view r/all without all the ads and “suggestions,” and now that’s broken. Guess my last link to Reddit has been severed.

Lol

I wave goodbye as with a final groan the last bit of reddit sinks below the water.

Yup. Just logged back into this account after a year. I haven't had a reddit account since the API stuff, so I guess this is how I finally stop using reddit.

It's actually the reason I'm here now. I deleted my account a long time ago but would still pop in there every now and then to check out some communities I used to be a part of. Now that I can't even do that anymore there's no reason for me to ever go back. Ah well, it was nice while it lasted.

Welcome to the Threadiverse (Lemmy+Piefed+Mbin)! 👍

I primarily use Mlem on iOS, though it's good to have an ecosystem with many apps and frontends to give people varied options and serve as backups should any app no longer be developed (as occurred to my former favorite app, Arctic).

Pouring one out for highstrangeness, although AI slop had already killed the truly insane schizo posts, this is the final nail for this lurker. Fuck reddit and long live the fediverse.

Seems like it might just be for larger subreddits? I have an RSS Feed with r/soccer and r/NFL for sports news, and they don't load anymore. But my local soccer team and city subreddit still work fine on old.

Are you saying if this ever happens you'll stop using reddit? Or are you experiencing this now? I have been using it all afternoon with no login.

Are you on a VPN? I know they've given me trouble a couple times there. But without a VPN, Android and Linux Firefox, Canada, never had an issue.

You reached the end
