habitat construction: pressurized rooms pressure calculation: comparison to indoors swimming pool

more thoughts on habitat construction. i want to make animations about this too but people voted against AI image generation (which would be the easy route) so i would have to draw it all by hand which is a chore and i can't motivate myself to do it yet.

so anyways, if you want to build a house that can hold a minimum of 200 mbar of oxygen inside, that's quite a lot of pressure. it's like you're trying to build an in-door swimming pool on earth, but not on ground level. so you have 2 m of water in a big bucket that has to be held up entirely by steel. the pressure is the same. 2 m of water on earth has 2000 kg /m² · 10 N/kg = 20 kPa. meanwhile 200 mbar oxygen gas = 20 kPa.
