I remember growing up, my best's friends dad had a subscription to Popular Mechanics. Every cover had some kind of make believe tech on the front. I legit though it was just a sci-fi mag from the covers. But I guess they did talk about some real things inside? In the 90's all I remember seeing on those covers at my friends house, were personal helicopters and personal flying car kits on the covers lol
I saw a post recently showcasing (satirically) how the future has been predicted in popular media circa 50's to present day; there was definitely a time where the future was bright & fantastical! Future science mags & TV programmes have always straddled that line of ridiculous and real.
I love it personally, so long as its not to feed a billionaire, that wonder of what could be is a fantastic thing!
