What are your favorite syrups?

Hi!

I'm thinking it could be fun to share some syrup ideas, for cocktails or simply with water. What are your favorites? Homemade or commercial, classic or unique :)

For me, I usually have orgeat (with almonds, I haven't tried with other nuts yet) and honey syrup in the fridge. I do also love ginger syrup and passion fruit syrup. I have tried lavender syrup, which was a bit disappointing, but it might have been overstepped.

Maple syrup is the best! I imagine it could pretty much work in any cocktails that use honey syrup

I've been going a little crazy for homemade cardamom syrup. It's a slightly citrusy spice, that has both warm and cool notes. Oddly, I really enjoy it in gin (but also in my tea lattes).

  • 30 crushed pods/ 1:1 water sugar.
  • Bring all to a simmer for 10 minutes, and stir to make sure there's movement around the seeds and the sugar dissolves.
  • Turn off the heat, cover the pot and wait for it to cool before straining.
  • Store in the fridge.

Sometimes I like to do 1/2 granulated whitebsugar and 1/2 brown sugar, that's a great syrup for oatmeal lol

I use almond a lot. I also like to have pear and pineapple syrups on hand, maybe peach or apricot. I'm a Monin fan. Torani tend to have more artificial colors, faker flavors, and more preservatives.

I’ve made a rosemary simple syrup a handful of times, and it does a lovely job of gussying up any old drink. Like gin, lemon, soda, with some of that is primo. I just chop up a few tablespoons, add it to 1C water and 1C sugar, and boil it for about 15 minutes, then strain out the rosemary. Easy and effective!

I really love a good old fashioned with either maple syrup or brown sugar simple syrup.

Been experimenting with hot honey in a few things.

A friend brought me some Huckleberry lemonade mix from vacation and I went crazy for a while putting Huckleberry syrup in everything.

Never heard of Huckleberry, what does it taste like? Close to blueberries? Can't go wrong with any berries in any case haha

Sort of a blueberry blackberry flavor. Popular in the Yellowstone area- that's where i first had it. Delicious in ice cream!!!

Ginger syrup I like, strawberry syrup, and most definitely pineapple syrup. I think pineapple I find the most useful.

Passion fruit I use the liqueur instead, the Chinola is so good.

Orgeat is great but I don't use it enough to buy it and it's hard to make a small amount. Made it from avocado pits once, that was cool.

Orgeat from avocado pits sounds really interesting! Do you basically hit the pit hard enough to break it, and then boil it?

Sounds like you may like Falernum.

Check out a "corn n oil", tastes like a deluxe cola chupa chup.

I have made some falernum, but I haven't tried a corn n oil. I'll add this to my list, it sounds tasty!
