nooo, they remove gay scenes because it's uhhh... western propaganda, something something, america bad, something cia

lemmy.world

I saw one of them claiming China was more LGBT friendly than the use the other day and it took me a second to process that they were being completely serious.

After hearing what China did to the Uyghur (sp?) people, this is not surprising at all

15

"N-no, you see, they have to censor us because we're Western dogs... self-flagellation for the Comrade-Chairman will redeem us of our sin of birth!"

programming.dev

That website is CIA propaganda! But also it's a good thing and China's firewall is necessary to prevent the poison of western ideology from ruining glorious CPC!

lemmy.ml

Not even the ones who's figurative dick they figuratively sucking want them. I wonder why they're not defederated form anywhere yet. (Same with Lemmygrad and to some extend Kbin)

19

Kbin doesn't have a tankie problem, though?

The guy running Kbin has a reasonable head on his shoulders. I've never seen any problematic folks there. Heck, Kbin is one of the places Beehaw still federates with.

32

They're defederated from @lemmy.world and the all feed there is so, so much better for it.

Wait, Kbin? Kbin is pretty normie. I should know, I generally stick to Kbin mags.

Yeah, Kbin is superb. No one plans to build a wall around us and our comrades!

@Dirk

I do kbin mostly and I can't say I've ever seen a single hexbear post or mag (and only a handful of their users) unless it was someone else telling me what hexbear is or complaining about them.

1
cachesonreply
kbin.social

They haven't whitelisted kbin, so you won't see their posts (edit: unless they're made to non-hexbear communities). Only their comments on other instances, and a fair number have blocked them at this point.

2
bingbongreply
lemmy.dbzer0.com

Wait, if they're not federated, then their comments are still visible?

1

If I understand correctly, their posts and comments to communities on other instances will still remain visible to you until your instance specifically blocks them. Hexbear won't talk directly talk to kbin, but will talk to lemm.ee, and lemm.ee will tell kbin about posts and comments that hexbear users have made on lemm.ee's communities.

lemm.ee

That’s because they’re not communists. They’re anarchist trolls making fun of everything—including themselves.

2
lemmy.dbzer0.com

I've gotten serious pushback from them for advancing basic anarchist ideas. The prevailing ideology amongst hexbear users is not anarchist.

25
tsonfeirreply
lemm.ee

Well, that is contrary to my experience. Most of them say tear it down and destroy it and then if it survives, fill it with communism. That’s anarchy.

-11
lemmy.dbzer0.com

Ah, I was thinking the social organizing principle, rather than the colloquial. Hexbear has very few Anarchists

10
tsonfeirreply
lemm.ee

Lots of lip service coming from them in that regard.

lemmy.dbzer0.com

They like to talk about left unity, but all their heros sent the secret police after "left socialists" like anarchists and unionists

6

Their heroes are just textbook communists they throw around.

I bet if you gave each one a billion dollars they wouldn’t share a dime. Everyone’s a communist when they’re poor.

cachesonreply
kbin.social

I'm starting to doubt your ability to identify anarchists.

6
tsonfeirreply
lemm.ee

I’ll agree it’s weaker than my ability to identify a communist. So whatever you call them, it’s not communism. It’s just lip service.

1
cachesonreply
kbin.social

I can appreciate the desire of modern communists to avoid a repeat of how things went with the USSR, China, etc. However, I don't think you can wholly repudiate the tankies as non-communist.

4
tsonfeirreply
lemm.ee

Make them rich and see how communist they really are.

0

I mean, I guess, maybe? I think Marxism-Leninism is a fucked up ideology, but I don't categorically doubt the sincerity of MLs. They'd probably put any sudden windfall towards some sort of vanguard party centralized power bullshit that they think will eventually lead to communism, as is consistent with their ideas.

As an anarchist, I don't think that would be a good use of the money, but I don't have any particular reason to believe that they'd be more hypocritical about it than any other communist or leftist.

1

Marxism-Leninism/Stalinism fell out from communism and with its purges can be considered anti-communist.

2
lemm.ee

Hmmm. They're not very happy about anarchism either. Accelerationism fits somewhat if one would try to pin it but there's a diverse range of users.

As far as I can tell, they’re contrarian authoritarians. That is, they support strongman dictatorships primarily because doing so shocks the sensibilities of and upsets the people around them. It’s childish nonsense without any rigor.

37

Big time reactionary authoritarians. They just absorbed some Lenin somehow and are trying to be "based".

8
cachesonreply
kbin.social

They’re anarchist trolls

Maybe a few, but there's no reason to think that there's any more than that, let alone a majority. There's no shortage of actual tankies in the world, so why should hexbear be some elaborate ruse?

19
lemm.ee

Please don't lump anarchists in with those Stalin worshipping crazies.

10

Haha. At least they aren’t lawless, letting people do whatever they want.

-3
lemm.ee

Ah I see hexbear has gone from alt right trolls to anarchist trolls now

3
tsonfeirreply
lemm.ee

They weren’t really alt-right if they love communism.

-3

Haha. I dunno, the alt-right has a pretty firm sweaty grip on the US right now.

I'm at the point where I'm more annoyed at the hexbear complainers than the actual hexbear users. The most interaction I've had with Hexbear was through posts complaining about them. Everyone seems to understand that they are trolls but are intent on feeding them.

They are not as big of a problem as some might have you believe.

-22

I imagine most of them are textbook neckbeard types that have never actually engaged politically with the real world. Nothing to take seriously.

Surprisingly, complaining in a community about how tired you are of hearing about the subject of that community doesn't tend to play well.

12
harkreply
lemmy.world

A whole community existing just for this purpose only proves their point further.

-10
cachesonreply
kbin.social

And their point is what, exactly? That they can't find the "Block Community" button?

7

Fair. A lot of people do have grievances with them.

Still, this community and meanwhileongrad account for a significant portion of the discussion about tankies, and would probably be worth it for you to block.

2
harkreply
lemmy.world

You're on kbin.social, why can't you find the block domain feature if it bothers you so much?

-4

If I were tired of hearing about tankies, I wouldn't be participating in this community.

6
pozboreply

You're still here... You can block the user who's opinion offends you if it bothers you so much.
