From The Crowley Tarot The Handbook to the Cards by Akron & Hajo Banzhaf
The Graphic Design The Tower is certainly artistically the most interesting card of the entire deck, even if it first irritates the observer with its chaotic expression. The process of destruction is not only portrayed here, but the destruction appears to be included in the execution of the picture itself. The card has a disproportional effect through the mixture of different styles: the bottom portion is expressionistic, the middle part cubistic, and the upper section is symbolic-naive. In every other Tarot deck the representation of the Tower is most attractive; but in no other deck does the destruction with regard to content so aptly illustrate the crux of the matter.
An all seeing eye gazes down on the destruction as a Hellmouth burns the base of the tower. The lightning strike of power passing through the eye takes a peculiar path.
