I had that. I was very close to losing my arm, but I was lucky enough to get to a hospital quickly, and I ended up being there for 3 weeks, with 5 full surgeries under anstesia to remove infected tissue.

I'm telling you this to be aware of the signs. It started with minor pain when I put my elbow down on the table. This happened in the evening. The next morning there were some redness on the skin but I went to work. I visited a doctor who concluded there was an infection and recommending antibiotics. By the afternoon there was swelling and I was in quite a bit of pain so I went to the emergency. By the time I got there I could barely hold the pen when I signed my name on the form.

If you ever have a rapidly increasing infection, go to the hospital right away. Waiting a day could mean losing a limb.
