Tends to support the claims made about this discovery that the burials were culturally driven. One of the odd things about the remains was their very consistent adult size. This would only be the case if males were the same size as females which would be unusual given other related species.

The results of this study build upon previous insights from the Rising Star team about Homo naledi’s possible behavior. In 2023, the Rising Star team discovered evidence of possible fire, symbols, and burials.

In in 2025, the team published additional evidence to support their findings of intentional burial practices and the creation of rock engravings.
