I noticed today at my local coffee shop that Australia's Murdoch owned national news paper is pushing hard on Iranian terrorism and spy shit so looks like they are priming our RWNJs to clutch their pearls real hard. I assume Murdoch's media empire is in lock step with that shit in preparation.

Ok, I read the article. It doesn't state why he's stepping down. It does comment on how Hegseth is fucking up the top brass, and how yet another review of the withdrawal from Afghanistan is coming down the pike. It does mention there are talks about downgrading the rank of the command he held.
