That funny show on Channel 10. I maintain that Tom Gleisner carries it. He is perfect at knowing when to let a joke ride, when to move things on, how to play the straight man to maximise the funny of the contestants, etc. And when he does drop the occasional one liner its always a banger. The whole Working Dog mob are insanely talented dudes and dudettes.
"Ha ha I'm old and my urine smells like seaweed. I had sex!" <-- her shtick in a nutshell. The ladies like Kittiy Flanagan / Melanie Bracewell / Alex Ward / Celia Pacquola / Anne Edmonds are all far more hilarious and don't rely on being gross.
I do wish they'd cast their net a little wider in general though. There's a lot of lesser known talent out there that could use the popularity boost from being on the show, and you've already got Ed Kavalee and Sam Pang as regular guests on there to ensure the standard of funny is maintained. Keep a third slot for the big names on rotation, and have two slots each week for up and comers.
Hey, the guy who appeared in our carpark dressed as Elmo was on 4BC talking about his adventures, and posted a thread on Reddit:
