If you wanted to editorialize headlines you should have posted to a different community or made your own. I see no power tripping here, just upholding a basic rule you were reminded of multiple times. I would have banned you from my news coms, too.

Their policy of only allowing hegemonic news sources and then banning editorializing only serves to reinforce hegemony. It's the default form of "editorializing". It's disinfo.

Looks like they would have allowed your news sources if you didn't editorialize the headlines.

I'm no fan of world news, it's part of the reason I made alternative news coms. But your ban had nothing to do with Zionism.

The disinformation term "israel" is completely related to israel. The "rule" that I violated is designed to protect exactly this form of disinfo.

-2

... the rule to copy headlines exactly? In that case why would you post information from sources you disagree with?

4

while there are issues with that comm, "don't edit article titles" is pretty common and standard practice. i'd say you'd be well within your right to contextualize your issues with article titles in the body of posts, but i don't think the mod is being unreasonable with this rule or ruling

I wonder how many removals and warnings they had before the ban for rampant editorializing

Oh...

Nah must be your "anti-zionism" not the rules you flagrantly broke.

Edit: I count 28 violations of rule 1.

So supporting genocide is ok because the rules enforce it? Yeah that's how that place seems.

-3

I support the same cause, you're just making us look bad. You're given full freedom to say your peace in the body of the post, you could even post: Truer headline: "zionazis etc." Your* indignant denial of the rules followed by accusations of a detestable ideology being the defining feature of the removal reads like a cry-bully.

I would have given you temp bans a lot more than you got on that com, but the way you're acting it would have ended up in the exact same place.

Edit: word

YDI. Don't editorialize the headlines by changing them.

19

They only allow hegemonic news and they disallow editorializing. This is just "editorializing" in favor of the status quo.

Mods go crazy over one weird trick: change “israel” to “zionists”.

Rule 1.3:

Title must match the article headline

Yeah why is that? Whom does that rule serve? It definitely serves "israel" in every headline in the empire.

-4

The readers who would be rightfully shocked if a mainstream website, especially without a leading "Opinion:", talked anything like you do about something they've been complicit in this whole time.

2

oh yeah, that's Jordan Lund's comm, isn't it? he's a huge fucking zionist and also kinda racist.

17

I dislike him too. However in this case, OP editorialized a fuck ton of post titles which is breaking a rule that many comms have.

6

I dont blame that community for having strict rules. It has to be hell to mod.

I dont think its powertripping to be strict as long as its fair.

That rule is one that could probably be automated which would be ideal.

I don't know but another commentator said it's modded Jordand Lund (alleged racist/zionist).
