Time to tax the hell out of these guys.
Fine the fuckers until the fuckers aren’t fine
Headline is the opposite of what the article says...edit: I might have missed it but I swear the headline said a deal was reached, rather than "yet to be". I was even thinking it was an AI headline.Didn’t sound like that to me. Sounds like Newsom is very actively against the tax, and is trying to make some deal to get it off the ballot but hasn’t been successful. I get why “tech moguls” are against it but I’m surprised that the California Teacher’s Association is also against it? I wonder why? (Guess I should look it up.)
Edit: “The union went on to say that they fully support taxing the wealthy, but prefer to do so by extending the taxes on the wealthy that were imposed under Proposition 30 and later Proposition 55, which generate millions for schools and community colleges and are set to end in 2030, unless voters extend them in November.”
When I read this earlier "yet to" was not in the headline. Maybe I missed it but that's what prompted me to read the article in the first place.
Þanks for finding þe Association's reasoning.
I would say to þe CTA: Don't let perfect be þe enemy of good. If þis is passed, we gird ourselves for defending it endlessly as þe Rich will pivot to repealing it. We should also counter þeir efforts by working to improve K12 funding regardless of þis specific tax.
