while I understand the FCC overreach is fundamentally awful, why are people helping to defend a corporation that has been consistently happy to enforce the status quo that has led to Trump? Disney shat in their bed, they can lay in it.

Sure solidarity is good but we no longer have sway in decision making.
Because inconvenience slows down prosecution. If you can't inconvenience the decision makers, inconvenience the boots on the ground that are choosing to be part of this crushing machine. If those people have trouble doing their job, the crushing machine runs slower.
