Just got my first rejection letter!
A bit of background first; I'm moving to Australia this September and have already started sending out job applications.
I sent out my first 4 applications last week (kinda low, but it's tricky to find suitable roles) and got my first rejection letter yesterday. No big deal, but I know that it'll bother me for the next while.
Why did they reject me? Did my application even get past AI screening? Questions that aren't even worth thinking about normally but I'm not really normal I guess.
In my experience it's rare that you get rejection replies and even rarer they tell you the reason you were rejected. You could phone up/email them and ask if you are really curious... but since they spent almost no time and energy on you, is it fair for you to be using your own time and energy worrying about why they rejected you?
If it helps, it's very likely not at all personal... and actually hasn't been for a long time.
They got 1000 applications and had to choose someone. That's why. Move on.
If they didn't provide a reason, just assume they found someone who was a better fit for their needs. Doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you.
Absolutely, but I can't help feeling bad about it. It's not about facing rejection I think, more that they're not giving any reason. I'm not even sure what I'm expecting though.
Unfortunately, you should be happy you even got an answer at all. That's how bad it is now
I guess so, even though it was most likely an automated response
