The image adobe is getting mad about, is of her in a bikini, sitting on a paddle board. It's not even over sexualized, it's just a woman wearing a swimsuit. what the fuck.
Stop supporting these shitty corporations and you won't be constantly fucked over by them. Any corporation can end up with a board or executive that is a prude or overly religious or a fascist dickhead. So just don't support them if you can help it.
I would say Krita and blender are industry competitive but gimp has lagged behind. It's usable but clearly not on a professional level yet. That said, if enough people started donating a fraction of what they pay to use Photoshop that this would change very rapidly.
Yeah gimp has always been on like this cusp of being really good. I'm not sure if it needs to be forked or a full rewrite or just more funding. I know the biggest complaint has been the transition although that's a tough egg to crack. It shouldn't be a Photoshop clone but also not so dissimilar from industry norms.
To be fair, most of us that are online often, are well aware of this. This decade seems to be the decade to sever ties with major corps and switch over to FOSS.
I'd like to add [email protected] as there are good guides for alternatives to the mega corporation software there. You can alternatively check out purchasewithpurpose.io for all of the suggestions.
Also, check out opensourcealternative.to , as it provides a wider selection of categories for FOSS apps to chose from.
If enough people started donating to FOSS like GIMP like a quarter or an eighth of what they pay for these E-corps I'm sure we could have industry competitive software that's free and open source. Adobe has made their bed, they are ditching artists, essentially forcing them to give up their content to train their AI to change their business model to B2B. Now's the time to revolt and have the community build their own tools for themselves.
Right, just like anyone could stop using anything they found objectionable or immoral and keep their mouths shut about it, but this is exactly the type of thing not to keep your mouth shut about.
Software that enable you to do something should at some point just do that. To get good at something, invest time and money into an ecosystem that takes a lot of both to invest in, shouldn't arbitrarily use that as leverage against it's users to impose it's morals on them.
Sure she could switch to gimp, and arguably she should literally because of things like this, but that's not something you can easily do with everything, and it's worth calling out when a corporation leverages a virtual monopoly on something to force it's users to comply with something like it's judgement of content.
We're lucky enough to have open source versions of a lot of things, but you don't get anywhere simply voting with your wallet. Where you get somewhere is voting with a lot of people's wallets.

Is this an over correction for using ai to make child porn? Not to give Adobe too much credit, but that seems like the most likely answer for this.
Just porn in general

GIMP doesn't do this.

I've attempted to use Gimp multiple times over the years and it never clicked. Tried Krita for the first time a couple months ago and it's pretty nice

People in the US finding out that corporations are not their friends... Welcome to capitalism!

Lemmy has quite a lot of FOSS related communities to check out. [email protected] , [email protected] , [email protected]

God forbid a woman not being up to date on the politics of modern technology.
I mean, they could just... use something else?
Sure, but a tool shouldn't care how you use it.
Exactly. This shit should not be normalized. It is bonkers that a professionally marketed tool is trying to coddle anyone.
And that's exactly why you don't use it
They should but they should still make this video because its completely valid.

Photoshop?
I remember that, it was what we used before Krita existed right?
