First typewriter!
I got this for $30 from a neighbor. It was missing a spacebar spring and needed a good cleaning but now it works! I've been using it for journaling for like three weeks now. Great fun

Congratulations on this purchase—and on your ability to replace that spring! For a first repair, it's commendable!

Thanks! It was a little intimidating especially because I didn't really know how they worked. But it m when I realized the spacebar was not moving back up I was able to poke around and find the spot for the missing spring. The only downside is I haven't yet found the perfect replacement spring, I ended up hot gluing one that's a little too stiff in place, hopefully I'll find a better one soon. But it works!
I was looking at the keys and I realised that there are so many keys I don't have in my typewriters with Spanish sets. I don't have @ signs nor * and I'd love to have them.
Some of them don't even have the + sign, I have to combine : and -
The @ symbol is missing from French keyboards too, just like fractions. We need space for our accents!
I noticed that some Spanish keyboards missing the circumflex it can be done by combining the two accents. Are there French keyboards like that?
I never saw that. Generally, à, è and é are directly present on the keyboard, not the accents as dead keys. ^ and ¨ are dead keys, though.
Oh! I've never have guessed!
Wait! I just realised that it is only the machine I regularly use, it only has one dead key! The rest of them have two.
How it is possible that I've never had to type ü?
Because you never typed in Volapük 😅
Congrats! And happy journaling :)

It has been on hiatus for many months (like too many communities, I'm afraid) but I hope to soon get some time available to publish regular content again and, being the admin over there, I would love to see more people share their experience even more so if that relates to good old analog tech :)
