When I saw them on an early morning walk through the park I was camping at, I started to question what I knew about ducks in general! Do all ducks perch in trees?! Lol Turns out there are tree ducks.
Wood ducks certainly sit in trees. These black bellied whistling ducks apparently do, too. For the majority of the remainder, in the trees is not where ducks go.
Passerines!
Great word! (Had to look it up)
What a cool photo. I've not seen a duck in a tree before either.

Mergansers nest in trees too.
