What are you referring to? I don't think anyone still alive today remembers a time before white people stole black culture.

Yes, but before it was done with some level of cognitive dissonance. Certainly industry heads watched what black communities were making, stole it, and repackaged it for white audiences. Now, it's stolen directly from audiences without even bothering to repackage it.
