[DC] (Spoilers for TADC episode 9) I just need to present my love for one specific scene

::: spoiler Spoiler for Episode 9

Well, I'm glad to say I kept the fish's promise.

That scene with Caine and the Moon broke me, its so tender and the line delivery of both voice actors were phenomenal, so much emotion.

"You know, I never programmed you to say you loved me".

"i know".

GOD, its so good, I'm even tearing up a little writing this.

I fully believe this is Caine realising the NPC's are more human and more complicated than he ever intended, and if this show were to ever get a continuation or any crumb of extension in any form, I would love them to explore this revelation further.

The fact that the Moon is also voice by Goose, who does a fantasic job with the lines she has throughout the show, is the cherry on top. I think its up to interpretation, but I take it as her saying she still loves the show, dispite the turmoil it has seemed to caused. :::

This show was so good man

I think you're right about that. One of Caine's weirder moments was when Pomni had her whole Gummigoo arc where she wanted them to keep existing and Caine made it sound insane. He did something similar when Zooble pitched letting the adventures be chosen by the residents and leaving the various worlds open. Bubble even calls it disgusting.

I think that Abel wasn't really sapient in the same way that Caine was. It was just more capable of following instructions and abiding by the rules set forth (we see this example in the episode that shows Caine producing strange geometries and Abel producing standard shapes). So when Caine, with his ability to create newness, now had Abel's extra powers or permissions to control the system, he was unintentionally creating sentience along the way, but just had the compulsion to 'clean them up' to as any system does with things loaded into memory that it no longer needs.

We sorta see this in Caine's flashback to discovering the mind files as well. With every step closer to the files he gets, he moves from a little dot to a little figure, to finally the Caine we see in the show. In a sense, Caine built himself to be the AI that Abel was and unintentionally imbued himself with sentience along the way (/opinion).

Thanks for posting! One quick ask - please edit your post title to tag it by series with “[XX]”, where XX is each show’s two-letter “code” (aka abbreviation). Knights of Guinevere is [KG], The Gaslight District is [GD], The Amazing Digital Circus is [DC], Murder Drones is [MD], and so on. You can see the full list in the sidebar. [Meta] is also allowed for "meta-posts" about the community itself and [Other] for anything else. This helps with searching and filtering, since Lemmy does not have a flair system. Please ask @[email protected] if you have any questions or problems. Thanks!
