The same as anywhere. Events like this need a very dedicated organizer. But i love the idea.

i love fixing stuff. i can take a toy l, like a bubble blower my kids had that was designed to maybe last a year and rewire the thing (the wires broke) and gave at least 2 more years.

i am the repair cafe at my house. i have one desk designated as drop off.

but to get this happening at an event you need to have several people committed with sifferent skill sets.
