Does taking deep breaths, really help calm a person down ?

I do them when I have anxiety, but to be honest with you, it kind of hurts LOL especially when I'm following like a guided meditation on my phone, they'll be like "Now exhale innnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn" and I'm just like God damn when do we stop LOL I can't breathe

My ADHD makes it difficult to do the guided meditation thing. I've been listening to this track in my car before I go into work some days to help center myself before heading in.

You're very welcome, always happy to help! I tried for a while and eventually it kind of stuck. For me, simply doing something without weighing it as "correct" helped form the habit. I've also been on a weird esoteric kick lately and it all kind of jives lol

Sometimes I switch up the track for this one with Ram Dass; the mental image it provides is helpful.
