CS degree

Hello,

I’m preparing to get a software dev job in Latvia and I’m hoping you can point me in the right direction :)

I’ve been working as a QA for 20yrs, graduated some programming courses recently and I asked my boss last year to put me on an internal project as a junior. It didn’t work out so I’ve decided to go back to school. The idea is to ride out in school the junior dev job crisis while getting diplomas, gaining access to internships, graduate programs, maybe do some freelancing gigs.

I found a master’s program at RTU in English but I want to look into professional/vocational education as well. If it’s in English and has strong internship opportunities, I’m interested! Even better if it’s remote and/or internationally recognized, but I’m ready for a reality check :). Residence permits are not an issue, both me and my husband are EU citizens.

So here come the questions:

  • What are some good programs? Doesn’t matter the level, though I don’t think I qualify for PhD in CS
  • How many hours a week would I have in classes, labs etc?
  • How much control would I have over my schedule? I have 2 senior dogs that I need to care for and I want to have some time to work on my web app projects.
  • What are some good short cycle computer science programs I should look into as well?
  • What about vocational colleges?

Thanks, I appreciate it! 😊
