Bastard you made me look it up and its exactly what I thought,

The lines that sometimes appear on the end of a towel are known as “dobby borders” ("dobby" is the name of the weaving attachment traditionally used to create the geometric pattern itself). These lines serve multiple functions and have various benefits, including:[1]

Greater Durability: Dobby borders are usually woven tightly along the edges of towels, providing structural stability, reducing fraying and keeping towels intact longer.

Shape Retaining: The dobby border helps the towel maintain its tidy and iconic rectangular shape during washing and over the years.

Decoration: Dobby borders add a touch of flair to bath towels, offering a creative departure from the woven cotton of the rest of the towel.

Improved Grip: Dobby borders are textured and therefore help create better grip, making it harder for the towel to slip out of your hands while you’re drying yourself off.

On the flip side, the lines on the end of the towel do not indicate areas you should be using for drying particular parts of your body, such as your face, butt, or hands. But if that’s what you want to use them for, you do you!

Upvoted for the research.

I know I'd read that before, and forgotten it, because it's useless to me.

Now I'll know it again, until more important data kills it.

They cycle of life...

Dobby

Is this why they're always coming out of the dryer with socks attached?

I am of the opinion that your butthole can never be truly clean so I never dry my ass with the towel. I dry it with my hair dryer...

You think using a bidet gets your asshole cleaner than scrubbing your ass with soap and hot water in the shower?

Did you read what I said?

So it does everything, but it doesn't do any of those things quite well enough for it to be considered the definitive reason lol.
