Now that I know a *LITTLE* about what I’m doing (and with help from Claude & Gemini), my new server will be MUCH improved over the current one.

Now containers will be organized into proper stacks that can talk to each other and share resources, I’m following some security best practices, EVERYBODY GETS A BIND MOUNT, and I’m beginning to develop the faintest understanding of just how powerful #Proxmox is.
@RockyC @proxmox Yay! Love this for you! I’m a strong advocate of LLMs helping self-hosting to become demystified and mainstream. It’s within the reach of most people who are interested in it. It didn’t used to be.
Proxmox + ZFS has gotten me off of Google Gsuite, Calendly, Pipedrive, Spotify, and so many more. #selfhosted #proxmox
@amcjen @proxmox I’m generally NOT in favor of whatever slop we are doing with LLMs, but as TOOLS to assist us in expanding our knowledge, and skills, I’m fine.
I’m not having the agents do the work FOR me. They ASSIST me, because they both will still confidently give wrong answers, forget stuff, and go down rabbit holes.
Fascist? Pick up a dictionary and start by learning the definitions of the terms. Statements like that only serve to downplay the true nature of fascism...
There are still projects like folding@home... You can run llm's local only etc.
@poprox @amcjen @proxmox “Humanist” in my bio refers to the “good without God” Humanist.
And if the fascist oligarchs are going to GIVE us the tools we can use to overthrow them, why would we not take advantage of that?
The democratization of knowledge is a GOOD thing. A tool is a tool.

@poprox @amcjen @proxmox And the technology of these tools is nearly at the level where the ordinary person could set up their own self-hosted services environment, complete with locally-administered LLM, and stop using Big Tech services altogether.
That’s what MY dream is.
@RockyC @poprox @proxmox I love this. I think this is the next step in leveraging tech for all humanity, not just a moneyed few.
@RockyC @proxmox Totally agree. As most interested folks are probably closer than they think to actually pulling it off, and having a “phone a friend” option for when they get stuck is a wonderful way to learn.
