Corruption in the "West"
I noticed many people believe, that Western countries ranking low on corruption indexes, shows they aren't corrupt as hell.
To me this just means it's at a higher, much harder to prove level.
Instead of starting at the cop level (which is still possible with connections), it starts at the points where multi-millions can be made without anyone really noticing.
E.g. farm land > residential use, construction projects, sale of government properties, favors for corps etc.
The average person in the West can go through life without ever bribing a government official. That counts for something, no?
Still ridiculous not to call the West corrupt; it certainly is, but we pay our civil servants a living wage.
It's the corrupt politician paradox. The countries that are less corrupt prosecute corruption more often, and therefore look more corrupt from the outside.
hahahahah that somehow makes sense XD
Could be interesting, but could you provide some evindence?
Of which part and in which country? Probably check out the farm land conversions, big construction projects, construction in protected areas and such in your country, you will find plenty of "weird" cases.
Most cases I was following ended up with witnesses and evidence disappearing and or the charges disappearing due to a lack of evidence".
It depends on the country.
You're not wrong but corruption at that level is much more prevalent in America than it is in the UK for instance, which itself has a bigger problem than Norway etc etc.
Not sure if the UK is really that much better than the US. I would certainly assume that a country which is that Elitist would have a decent amount of nepotism and "lil favors"?
