Is it still worth it for FHD gaming in 2026?

Hi,
I'm still on the mission to build a low budget gaming PC. For 200 euros I was offered a computer with following specs:

  • Intel i5-7400
  • 32 GB DDR4
  • GTX 1070 Ti (8 GB)

The goal is to play games like The/Sons of the Forest, Cyberpunk 2077 and GTA V on medium to high settings in Full HD at 40+ FPS.

That gpu can manage cyberpunk at 60fps at 1080p ultra with FSR but might be held back a bit by that CPU. 40fps should be possible. Gta 5 is a little less demanding and should run fine.

Not a bad idea if they can get their hands on a decent 9th gen chip for a good price

I'm pretty sure 6th through 9th gen used the same physical socket but you would want to check that the board can support the newer chips. Might just be a matter of making sure the bios is up to date.

I5 9600 can be had in the US for about $50 from eBay, so not completely out of reach. Just double-check mobo compatibility.
