2nd tank, to house a betta for my fiancé
It’s a UNS 45U, with an Oase 100 thermo and a Chihiros WRGB Slim. CO2, and aquasoil in a mound under the rocks. There’s an open area behind and under the stacked rock, making a nice little hide.
So far I am liking the poppy pipe style, it’s my first time using it. And slowly I’m getting diatoms and snails, usual early tank stuff.
Lemme know your thoughts :)
lovely use of hardscape and plants. Not every tank needs to be filled with red and purple plants to look good!
With that said, what are you growing that will really benefit from intense lighting and co2? I see mostly slow growing anubias and some floating plants? You might benefit from some fast stem plants to keep nutrients down, and algae down, while benefiting from the co2 injection and higher lighting.
All plants can benefit from CO2. I have some stems that greatly appreciate it. And the light isn’t too crazy, it’s potentially powerful but I’ve got it turned down to roughly 33-40%. The floaters like the light and keep things more shady for the Anubias and crypts below, while all get the CO2 they like.
And thank you. Yeah I wanted to keep it simple and stick to lower light plants, since I know Bettas enjoy that better
I still use a HOB filter. I hate it and want super low flow to maximize co2 retention because I don't inject but keep high maintenance stems and plants in general. What intake and filter setup do you use? I like the whole system.
Yeah I am glad I went canister instead of HOB. It’s an Oase Thermo 100. The pipes I got are a poppy pipe for outflow, though if you don’t want a waterfall I would go Spin Pipe instead maybe. The intake has a skimmer on top, which is key for preventing surface buildup.
