Metallica Monday: The Four Horsemen
You know what, after that stellar Apocalyptica cover a fee weeks back: we need to go back to basics. And this track is the antidote to that. A thrash classic veering more than slightly into the punk roots that are often more Anthrax of the big four, but this track is (roughly) where it started. A Kill 'Em All masterpiece imo, with a galloping and bursting first half that breaks into a face melting solo. Noted for being a reworking of The Mechanix, released by Dave Mustaine under Megadeth also, it demonstrates imo what Metallica were just unbeatable at: fast as fuck, massive drums, epic solos. James' bark being very young it should be also be noted, he lost it for RtL. The Four Horsemen also has a massive outro, heavy on the pentatonics and reverb.

Megadeth's Mechabix for comparison. Even faster! Less solos. A bit muddier for me, that guitar tone not quite as nailed. But better vocals for me, and obviously punchier with a shorter runtime too
