That flip flop circuit is one of the first things I created which made me think "wow, electronics is pretty cool!"

I mean it's cool, but "theoretically eternal" is a tad optimistic. I have a refrigerator that had several very similar capacitors to the two I'm seeing here. One of these capacitors had swollen beyond recognition and disabled it after a mere 5 years.

The "theoretically eternal" is because it does not use any batteries or wearable parts, and currents are low. The components might fail eventually, but others said their circuits have been working for 15+ years.
