The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution has acquired data analysis software from the French company ChapsVision as an alternative to products from the controversial US firm Palantir.
The French software is capable of analysing large volumes of data using artificial intelligence and is intended for use in counter-terrorism and counter-espionage.
The BfV is the first federal authority to adopt a European alternative to Palantir, whilst several state police forces continue to rely on Palantir applications.

I still think that something like this shouldn't depend on a private company, not even a European one.
In the hands of a responsible public authority and used for anti-terrorism and anti-espionage it could be very useful, but of course, what public or non-public authority is trustworthy enough? In any case, others are going to use it against us, perhaps its use is not optional.
A great many things should not depend on a for-profit company, because incentives are usually, at least in part, misaligned. But such is the economic system propagated by our ruling class.
"We won't use Palantir because it is controversial so we decided to use French Palantir instead"
