I wish NO made a frag for Lorekeeper, I'd buy it for sure.
I don't own Lorekeeper, but I bet that's a great year-round scent. Love that brush, btw. Mr. Moffett sure knows is stuff.

Judging by the scent notes alone, that would be a very interesting fragrance!
Yeah it’s like a woody leather with a hit of brightness from the bergamot. I enjoy it quite a bit.

TTFFC makes the Maggard house brand shave soap. I found it easy to lather and slick.
The edge on this razor is a bit of a dud, so I'll have to try again and see if I can crack the code on it.
Sometimes those 150 year old razors have wear that compromises performance. This is especially problematic with wedges because as with blade width shortens, bevel geometry widens significantly. With a full hollow, the material width near the edge stays pretty constant, so the blade wears without appreciable performance degradation.
That makes sense, and I actually butchered this one when I was repairing a chip on the edge. I wore the edge and the spine down at the same time until the chip was gone :smile:.
It used to shave amazingly well, though, so I'll keep trying. I'm still new to honing, after all.

Shave 92 of the brain bowl
Cartridge Test 2, now with less goop - 13. Mai 2026
1 pass on the head and neck. Solid shave, no frills.
Today I remembered that I still have my Wilkinson Hydro razor and that the lubestrips of that one are basically gel in a little plastic strip that could be removed. So, with the surgical precision of my thumbnail, I did just that and went ahead with a cartridge shave without any unnecessary slimy goop.
I repeated yesterday's soap for three different reasons: 1. Better comparability; 2. It feels and smells great; 3. I am lazy and the tub was already open for drying 😂
As for the results: this feels nicer in terms of overall blade feel, but this Wilkinson Hydro is weird. It has a slider right to the end of the handle, where the cartridge is attached, that you can use to make it more rigid (only the head pivots) or flexible (a bulky plastic element adds further pivoting and side-to-side movement). I found the flexible setting to be the more useful one of the two, which is weird since I hate Flexball razors. However, the handle is rather bulky and stiff on its own and I'd prefer something more nimble which this flexible setting provides in a crutch. As for the quality of the shave, I can judge that it feels a tiny bit closer than yesterday's no-brand razor but also a bit less comfortable except for the much better lack of a slimy mess.
I think it'd be beneficial for me to try my hand at a pivoting head safety razor, even if most of them are either hard to obtain or really expensive. I still feel like this would be the best solution going forward, also the most eco friendly.
I also did my... Lower lip corners? Mouth corners? (basically, the areas right next to the soul patch of a beard) with a metal eyebrow razor that I recently bought. While trimming eyebrows is no problem for it, my coarse beard hair definitely was. Some men naturally grow no or very little hair there, but I need to shave these spots for a crisp look. It'd be cool if there would be a razor with the width of a halved DE blade but the stiffness of an AC blade for that!
Might be worth looking at one of the leaf razors.
I tried to get my wife to use the Leaf 2 but she quickly reverted back to her cartridge razors. She just wants something quick and easy, and the leaf felt more difficult and aggressive that what she’s used to.
I'm looking at those and alternatives. They were affected by price hikes too. I already have a Leaf Thorn and I must say that I am unimpressed by the build quality and the ugly handle 🫣
