Crazy to see the city fine a man the full amount for removing trees on his own property. He should’ve been able to get a survey and deduct the fines from the trees he would’ve been allowed to remove. Sounds like they need new guidelines.
All this talk of urban forests (an obvious oxymoron) is redundant. If the city wanted forests, they’d be buying land to turn into parks and restricting development. Oakland’s already sprawled into the hills.

City is too busy ignoring it's public lands policy to sell it off every opportunity it has to buy land for public good!
