Is this the Zegerplas? Brings back memories. I used to fish there as a young boy in the late 70s.

First years of my life I lived on a 'woonboot' at the Aarkade.

Thank you for posting this wonderful photo!

I never caught a fish there, once lying to my dad I did catch a fish. He smelled the hook and said yeah sure, good one. My first rod was a bamboo one, so we all went fishing at the Zegerplas to try it out...didn't catch anything and then my mom caught a Brasem on her first try, and we were all in panik. Another guy fishing there netted the fish and took the hook out.

I also remember there where motor cross races on the garbage dump near Zegerplas that was later developed into a park. That good old smell of garbage and 2 takt motorbike engines. And I do remember seeing speedboat races on the Zegerplas in that time.

Alphen aan de Rijn as I remember was a good place to start at in life.

Ha!
I used to have a bamboo rod as well. Most i catch are perch. Friends have catched big carps over there. Lots of life in those waters.

I think the dump you mentioned is now a golf course. With a small forest around it, it is one of my favorite spots for a good walk!

It's a dry ingredients mixer! You get all your flour, salt, and sugar in there, seal it up nice and tight, and let it toss about in the water for a while, and bam! Your drys have been all mixed together in the wet, without actually being wet.

After that, you go get the container, and mix your wets with your drys.

I think it is a buoy, marking the location of certain ereas in the lake. There's a diving location nearby, so i think this helps people with boats staying away from these locations to avoid accidents.
