What does this mean?
Hey guys, I have a question and hope this is the right comm to ask.
This photo is of a tab that also has sheet notation with it, in the tab, the 10 in Low E is represented by the half tone, on top of it there is a eighth note rest, how should I understand that rest to be played?
it looks as though the rest is drawn in such a way as to prevent you playing the low minim at the same time as the next quaver (I guess it’s an A if that’s a treble clef). So you would play the D, then the A and then the cluster chord after that.
in my mind this plays exactly like the opening bar of “Hurt” by Johnny Cash.
"Hurt" is by Nine Inch Nails and was covered by Johnny Cash.
Thanks! This is exactly how it sounds when played.
It is the opening them of twin peaks :)
It's hard to tell if it is this without being able to zoom out, but sometimes sheet music has more then one simulateous line of music on the same bar. You know how the note values in a measure are supposed to add up to some number of beats determined by the time signature? Well more than be set of notes may be intended to add up to that number of beats at the same time. That rest may be to fill out those beats for one set of notes.
