They didn't though. We did a ton of public records activism to find out what happened. Basically, there was a small group within SPD that evacuated the precinct. After it didn't melt down immediately, they started making a bunch of radio noise about Proud Boys to amp up the paranoia.
They were doing a bunch of counterinsurgency shit. The CHOP/CHAZ had problems, but they didn't just wait for it to collapse. They were pushing pretty hard to undermine it in every way they could get away with.
Those rogue cops are still employed, as far as I can tell
