I think Melbourne is more signposted than anywhere in the world.
I've been to a few different countries, and when I come back, I'm hyper aware that most of metro Melbourne is obscured by signposts. Does this bother anyone else?
What the place really needs is a couple of moving billboards and a board advising of upcoming roadworks that scrolls through the information so you never manage to actually read it all. There's nothing like increasing the visual clutter on the roads to enhance safety.
🛑 warning: signs ahead ⚠️
There are actually signs before this to warn that there are signs ahead. I'm not even kidding.
Those are the signs of the time.

You had to make sure it is timed to the speed of the traffic so that no-one has the opportunity to read every “page”.
I don't disagree, but I find the opposite when I travel interstate - i can barely find the speed limit signs. Maybe I'm just use to being spoon-fed 😅
The more reasonable the speed limit is, the less it is signed.
The 40 zone pictured is on a 6-lane highway 30km from the city. It's literally in front of a paddock.
